Esther 4:15-17 “A Picture of Godly Submission…”

Pastor Andy reads Esther 4:15-17 alongside 1 Peter 2-3, showing how Esther's life is a beautiful picture of godly submission. Up to this point, life simply happened to Esther. She made no decisions and had no agency. But when she chose to submit actively and declare, "If I perish, I perish," everything changed. Laying 1 Peter 2-3 over her story, Pastor Andy reveals four things submission does: it gives agency and is the way out of being a victim, it requires courage and faith in God's justice, it sparks creativity, and it opens the door for God's grace. Most importantly, Esther is a glimmer of Jesus, meaning an example of self-sacrificing love, suffering unjustly without reviling in return, committing oneself to the Lord who judges righteously, and by doing so, opening up the choice for every person to live for righteousness.
